Scope of activities
- Expert assessment of project documentation for construction, extension, reconstruction, technical upgrading, conservation and liquidation of hazardous metallurgical industrial facilities
- Development and implementation of E-passport systems for industrial and civil facilities
- Monitoring of the technical condition of buildings and structures, technical devices, foundation soils.
- Geological engineering and geophysical survey
- Testing and long-term observations of structures of all degrees of complexity

- Research and development activities and thesis
elaboration in the following focus areas:
- assessment of accident risks for industrial and civil facilities
- study of actual behavior of structural elements of buildings, structures and technical devices;
- damageability analysis for facilities of any degree of complexity, with elaboration of procedures for remaining life assessment and recommendations on life extension;
- study of strength and fatigue characteristics of steel structures for assessing critical state of facilities under analysis;
- study of crack resistance of lined steel plate structures;
- study of structural metal properties by microsampling to obtain data on chemical composition, mechanical properties and brittle fracture resistance characteristics. Sampling is performed without cutting off large specimen from structural elements of buildings, structures and technical devices and without interruption to operations;
- reliability study for facilities of any degree of complexity
- Specialists of the Department are certified in the
following NDT methods:
- ultrasonic testing;
- visual testing and control by measurements;
- method of metal magnetic memory;
- vibration-based diagnostics and thermal imaging control
